For as much as the world has changed since Clearfight’s entrance to the scene in 2021, the band's message hasn't wavered. The 4-piece continues to create music that touches on difficult topics such as mental health, loss, and heartache. Embracing vulnerability head-on with roaring guitars and openness, they refine their blend of pop punk and emo on every song. Founded by Colt Coan (lead guitar) and Hunter Spano (lead vocals), Clearfight set out to craft music that resonates on a personal level. As Spano and Coan welcomed Tim Ellis (drums) and Alex Castonzo (rhythm guitar) in 2023, the band finally rounded out its messengers of musical and emotional deliverance.
"I wanted to write very personal songs during a time when the whole world was locked away, feeling very vulnerable." shares Colt. "It was a way to connect through the disconnection."
Over the years, Clearfight has forged a strong connection with fans, sharing stages with acts like Belmont, Like Roses, 93FEETOFSMOKE, Super American, and Youth Fountain. Their live shows are a testament to their passion, leaving everything on stage and inviting listeners into their world.
In 2022, they released their debut EP, “Don't Look At Me”, marking a significant chapter in their journey. The standout track "Save It”, featuring Christian Fisher of Settle Your Scores, showcased their knack for blending infectious hooks with raw emotion. The EP solidified their place in the emerging regional scene, earning them recognition and a growing fanbase.
Never content to stand still, Clearfight pushed forward with new singles. "Scumbag," produced by Kevin W. Gates and mastered by Elliot James Mulhern (formerly of Hey Monday), showcased the band’s ability to lean in on melodic hooks that will stick within your head. Most recently, they've unveiled "Give Up The Ghost," produced by Bret Liber of Young Medicine and mastered by the legendary Kris Crummett. The track represents their evolution, weaving atmospheric, pop elements with the emotive punch they've become known for.
"This band continues to evolve, and we find new ways to verbalize who we are," Colt reflects. "Each song is a step forward, but the core of our music—the honesty and emotion—remains the same."
Clearfight isn't just making music; they're creating a space where it's okay to feel everything. With each release, they're not just adding to their discography—they're strengthening a bond with everyone who listens. Their journey is one of authenticity and connection, and they're inviting you to be a part of it.
